GP referral to see a specialist

NHS England have produced a really helpful leaflet explaining what to expect when their GP refers them to a specialist.

In particular there are two area's that frequently cause problems and anxiety for patients when we try and help them put things right AFTER their visit to a specialist.

  • If you need to start taking new medication, the hospital must supply you with at least seven days (or less, if you need to take medication for a shorter period).

  • If you need a sick note, the hospital must provide you one for the duration which the specialist deems you unfit for work.
